More keyword research….

Thursday, June 23rd, 2005

Yes, I’m still on the subject of my content site at http://www.ScrapbookingHome.com I’m STILL doing keyword research for this site. I have come up with 7 main keywords…

Free Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking Ideas

Scrapbooking Layouts

Scrapbooking Page

Scrapbooking Printables

Scrapbooking Sayings

Scrapbooking Stickers

…each of these keywords will be a category on the page. I will do keyword research for each category and each category will have it’s own set of keywords. I will build a page with content for each keyword in each category. The content will probably mainly be articles.

I don’t have a lot of time for article writing so I may go to one of the freelance sites and see how much it will cost me to have articles written target for each keyword. If any of you would like to write articles on the topic of scrapbooking, let me know and I’ll give you the keywords I need articles written for. Just let me know how much you charge. :)

Okay, so how did I come up with these main 7 keywords…. This is the tricky part. First I have to tell you about the tool I used. It’s called Keyword Results Analyzer. You have to use this tool with Wordtracker, but let me tell you, it’s totally worth it. I can’t image doing all of this by hand. Andy Williams is the creator of Keyword Results Analyzer. When you buy this tool he gives you three incredible resources to learn how to use it. It is VERY step-by-step, and I learned so much from Andy over the last couple of days. If you don’t have it, spend the $67 and get it. I plan on building many more content sites and this tool I am sure will be a lifesaver.

So, here’s how it breaks down…. I went to wordtracker.com and used the comprehensive search for the word scrapbook. I then took all of the results from this search and did a competition search for all the words. This way I could see exactly the best words to use. Hence the 7 category keywords I mentioned above. I did this all following Andy’s Niche Within A Niche guide. It’s one of the guides you get when you buy Keyword Results Analyzer. This isn’t magic you guys, you just have to find the right tools to accomplish what you need to do.

There’s how I got my main 7 category keywords.

The next thing I will do is start at the first category and find related keywords to start building pages for each category. This is where it’s going to start getting fun! I’ll be back in a few days with more updates… Until then, if you have any questions, just post your comments below!

Now we are rolling with this content site…

Continuing on…

Okay, I bought a template from Basic Templates.com lastnight and got it uploaded to the site. Yes, I know how to build webpages, but I don’t have a lot of time for this project so I used a template. For these content sites, I suggest that you do the same thing!

I also did some keyword research using the main words scrapbook and scrapbooking. I am still researching to see what words will be the most profitable. You can see what I have so far by clicking here for the scrapbook keywords and here for the scrapbooking keywords.

How did I get these? Well, I used a nifty little program I will soon be telling you about. This program lets me search for keywords and the keywords related to my “root” keyword. It also tells me how many times the keyword has been searched for and how many PPC campaigns there are for it currently running three of the big PPC engines.

The words I chose are :

1. Searched for 500 times or more each month

2. Have less than 10 Google Adwords Campaigns running (This is relative because I’m going to be experimenting with using a Google Adwords Campaign to get people to my content site to click on my adsense ads.

I’m sure there are other things I should be looking at also, but for right now I’ve picked these words on the above conditions. I will start narrowing them down, and will be back here in a few days to tell you the exact keywords I will be using for this site.

See you soon!

I haven’t forgotten…

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2005

Hi All!

Way back on the 1st of May, I started talking about doing a niche content site and using Adsense for revenue off the site. See my post at http://www.liztomey.com/?p=16

I’ve been reading and reading and reading… Still not TOTALLY sure what I am going to do, but all of this reading and reading and reading is doing nothing, so now it’s time to take action….

I have the domain name… http://www.scrapbookinghome.com and I have hosting for it. There’s those two things out of the way…

My next step will be doing some keyword research…. I need to:

1. Find the most searched for keywords in the scrapbooking niche
2. Make a page for each keyword I pick. The page for each keyword will need to be specific to that keyword, so I am probably going to take the advice of Andy Williams and Paul Short and create my own content. Search engines LOVE original content. I may use some RSS feeds and other feeds also. (I’ll explain more about that when I get to this step.)
3. Get each page of the site totally optomized for the search engines.
4. Hopefully site back and watch my adsense revenue climb.

Looks like my work is cut out for me… If any of you have comments you might want to make or tips, please do so. I need all the help I can get on this new adventure. :)

I’ll keep everyone updated on every step I take with this project so hopefully you can do the same!

Until next time…

Liz

I’m still alive…

Tuesday, June 7th, 2005

Hey all!

Yes, I’m still alive…:)

It’s been really rough here this last week. Last month I had a harddrive crash on me. Well, I got a new one put in and was just about all caught up on everything when the new one crashed. :(

Needless to say it messed many things up. I lost tons of email, so if you emailed me and I haven’t gotten back to you, just email me again. I will get you taken care of.

Right now I am using a temporary harddrive so I can get the bare minimum done. I should be back up and totally running full speed by the end of next week.

Many of you know I have a jv product that I sell at http://www.JointVentureSeeker.com At the end of this week, I will be telling you about someone who approached me with a JV offer, and I was really blown away by his technique. There is a right way and a wrong way to do joint ventures. I have been doing them for years now, and not many people know the correct way to do them to make them successful. Stay tuned for an exciting “RIGHT WAY” example…

Until next time…

Liz
