Why isn’t Liz recommending?

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

Hey there…

I’ve had the “Liz Recommends” category on my blog for a long time, but haven’t posted much to it. The reason being is because anything I recommend is at www.RealProductReviews.com

Since I have some posts here on products I have recommended, I’ll keep the category here, and I’ll be posting some free resources here that will help you, but as I said, all the good stuff is over at www.RealProductReviews.com

Liz Tomey Meets James Grandstaff!

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Liz Tomey Meets James Grandstaff!

The first guy I’d like to tell you about that I met at TIMME is James Grandstaff…

James is a super cool guy, and owns DownlineSecrets.com It’s been a HUGE success…

Now the reason I’m talking about James today is because of an email he just sent me with the subject line of:
“Hi Liz, have time for a rant?”

James doesn’t rant a lot, so I opened it up to see what was going on! What I read actually didn’t shock me because it’s the same kind of BS that I go through and many other good marketers go through.

Here’s what James had to say today…

I’d like to share
with you some of the ridiculous feedback I got
back from this one guy on my list…

(this is more of a rant, I hope you don’t mind)

This same person is no longer on my list because
I deleted him. I guess he hasn’t heard about the
latest invention out there in the email marketing
world…

It’s called “The Unsubscribe Link!”

If you’ve known me for any length of time, you’ve
probably figured out that I like to “try” and
please everyone. I usually stay safe and don’t
step on anyone’s toes.

However…

After getting some ‘positive’ feedback from so
many people on my list, I’ve decided I don’t
need to (and will not try to) please everyone
anymore. It’s just plain silly for me to think
it’s possible.

With that said, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this…

Here is what one guy said to me in a nasty
email after going through the 3 steps at my
new site…

(this isn’t a direct quote because
I was so p*ssed I deleted his email
not thinking)

“Let me get this straight… You want me to
join:

- Success University = More outlay of cash!
- Downline Secrets = More outlay of cash!
- Instant Buzz = More outlay of cash!
- List Joe = More… (you get the point)

Then his email went on and on about he’s been
in direct marketing for 30 years and he’s some
big shot and I’m just a young punk trying
to rip him off.

Then he throws in some profanity and says if
I want to make some real money to get on the
phone with him and he’ll show me how it’s done…

I replied nicely and explained that I’m doing
ok and all he has to do is click the unsubscribe
link at the bottom of the email to never hear
from me again.

He then comes back personally attacking me
about my bankruptcy and all sorts of non
sense that was really starting to p*ss me
off.

But here’s the kicker…

Somewhere in there he says: “And that one time
when I did talk to you for over 1 hour on the
phone I was more confused than ever before.”

Then it hit me…

“I remember this “Jack—!”

He sent me a really nice email and I was kind
enough to take an hour out of my day to call
him on the phone “Just because” (don’t get any
ideas; I don’t do that anymore) and he has the
nerve to send me a nasty email like that.

Sorry charlie!

Here’s my free tip of the day:

If you’re lucky enough to find a nice marketer
who is willing to pick up the phone and talk to
you about your goals and give you free advice
for over an hour… You certainly should not
send them nasty emails later on down the road
about something you don’t like. Sheesh!

Ok, enough of my rant, sorry.

Let this be a lesson… Just because you get screwed by the latest “guru” doesn’t mean you should take it out on everyone else you come across. You need to think before you speak and give someone the benefit of the doubt before you start pointing fingers.

When emails come in like this each time I get a little bit more pissed, which makes me A LOT less likely to help people in the future. There are still good guys out there like James and I and the people we are connected with, so don’t jump the gun! Be sure you are pointing your finger at the right person before sending out those emails…

Now I met a ton more people at TIMME II, but I wanted to introduce James here because the email I got from him today I could sure relate to! I’ll be back with more of my “peeps” in the next few days…

To your success!

Ticked Off About Promo Codes

Saturday, September 2nd, 2006

Hi all!

I’ve been in Internet marketing for quite a while now. I run 3 different newsletters, over 144 websites, and do very well. My main focus has never been on the money though. I’ve successfully started and profited from two different businesses since the age of 19. That’s 8 years of good solid business. My focus has never been on the money. My focus has always been on you…

You are my business. Without you there’s no reason to have a business. So, I always put you first when teaching or recommending anything that will help you make money. That’s why I’m writing this post today…

What I’m about to explain is going to piss a lot of people off. Do I care? Nope! Not one bit. And the reason I don’t care is because it’s not going to piss you (my reader) off, it’s going to piss off jv partners, and other people I know in Internet marketing. Again, I don’t care because all I care about is you. I owe you, not them!

Now this all got started when I opened my email and help desk yesterday and today. I got quite a few people who were upset with a promotion I did for Promo Code Secrets.

Basically if you go to Promo Code Secrets, there is an optin form. You put your information in and you’ll get a promo code for a guide that Jordan Hall wrote called Promo Code Secrets. This promo code will allow you to get the guide for $9.97 instead of $27.00.

A few people got really confused about this, and had no idea what was going on. Now you know.. :)

So what’s the big deal?

People are pissed because once they pay their $9.97, (or $27 if they missed the promo code) and read the guide at the end they are told that they have to buy a script for $67 to be able to use what is taught in the guide.

Now at first I was a little ticked off by the emails I got. I think that the Promo Code Secrets guide is absolutely incredible. I truly do, and I have already started making money with it. That’s how cool I think it is. :) I have said that it’s the best thing since Butterfly Marketing, and I truly believe that also. No, it’s nothing like Butterfy Marketing. I look at Buttefly Marketing as a concept, a strategy, a tactic, a technique whatever you want to call it to make money. Promo Code Secrets is that too.

So why were people so pissed off? I decided to not answer any of those emails yesterday. I wanted to think about it. I knew I was giving out an amazing resource so I couldn’t imagine why I was getting these emails. I’ve never gotten so many emails about something I had promoted. I had to really stop and think.

Then I started understanding…

People thought they couldn’t use the strategies within the Promo Code Secrets guide unless they had the script. I knew it could be done without the script, but it never occurred to me that everyone else wouldn’t see this.

Now before I go any further, I do want to say that I do use the script. It does make things easier, and does some cool stuff for you, but if you want to use the strategies and give out promo codes, you don’t have to have the script. You just have to have a little bit of creativity.

So, I’m going to tell you all how to use Promo Code Secrets without the script. Do I do it without the script? Nope. Do I think it’s easier without the script. Nope. I’m doing this to show you that the strategies inside Promo Code Secrets are absolutely incredible and I don’t want anything to hold you back from using them.

Note: I will not provide support on what I am about to teach you to do. I’m doing this because I have a commitment to you, but I simply cannot help everyone individually. Feel free to post comments or questions here, and I will try my best to help here only.

Okay, so the first thing you need is a form that your visitor can put a promo code in on your site, and be taken to a different page with a different price.

Here’s the code you need to put on your page.

It’ll look like this:

Promo Code:

The only thing you will need to change si where it says www.YourUrlHere.com is where you will put the url to the page you want your visitor to be redirected to.

The only draw back is that the person can basically enter anything in, and get to your page. And in order to have different promo codes on one page, you will have to put multiple forms on your page.

That’s why I have the script. It saves me time and gives me more functions, but you can still do it the free way. The script is great, and once you actually act on this, I think you should get it, but for now, just focus on what the guide is teaching you. There are some VERY powerful tactics within it.

So, I hope this helps everyone understand now why I promoted Promo Code Secrets. If you can’t see the value in spending $9.97 to get the information, I don’t know what else I can possibly help you with. I didn’t think the Butterfly Marketing Course was worth $997, but it’s made me money hand over fist since I started using it, so it’s worth way more than that to me now.

Like my mom always tells me… Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it…

A rant on customer service that sucks!

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

One thing that a lot of business lack online is customer service. I have a 0 tolerance policy when it comes to customer service. If I get bad customer service, I go off! It’s just one of my pet peeves. For instance, if I go into a restaurant and it’s a casual restaurant I either tip $10 or nothing. Since it’s usually my husband and I, a $10 tip is good. :) If I get bad service though the person just wont get a tip.

Now online I can’t tip, but I can find something better!

This also just happened to me. I wont name names here, but I was a subscriber to a service that provided a kick butt service that allowed me to easily search ClickBank.com by all kinds of different searche criteria. I could search for the newest products, by the rates of the products, all kinds of awesome things that ClickBank.com its self just doesn’t provide. It also gave me my affiliate links, and other important stats. I paid about $40 bucks every few months for this service. All went well for a while until I had my first problem. I wasn’t able to access the service. After emails back and forth I was basically told it was my problem.

I was ticked because I was led to believe this was the only service around of it’s kind, and now I had not only gotten bad service but was paying for something I couldn’t use.

I went to searching…

After just a few minutes, I found not only an alternative that was better put cost much less! Because of the bad customer service I got the site has lost my business forever, and now I’ll be telling everyone about the better and cheaper service I have found, AND the customer support rocks! I just had to test it before even thinking about giving them my money. I emailed them as if I had already paid to join their site and got an email back within 1 hour!

Totally awesome…

The name of this great service is CB Engine… It’s freakin’ awesome if you promote products via ClickBank.com You can visit the site by going to tomeymarketing.com/is-crazy-about/cb-engine.htm

Do yourself a favor!

ALWAYS provide top notch customer service…

That’s my rant for today… :)

Wedding Article Directory

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

I know that many of you are very into article marketing, so I have decided to start a category here on the blog about article marketing. We will be discussing this quite a bit because it is such a powerful topic, so stay tuned… :)

To get this started, I’d like to announce the opening of a new article directory I have started for those of you who write articles about weddings. You can see it at www.YourWeddingWebsite.net

I’ve had www.GuruMarketingArticles.com for a few years now. It’s gone through several transformations, but I think now I have it “virtually” perfect. :) If you write articles related to Internet marketing, feel free to post them there.

That’s all for now…
