Traffic Tip
By LizTomey | April 18, 2005
Hey all!
For my first post in my “My Traffic Secrets” section of my site, I’d like to share with you a little something I did when I first started marketing online, and something that you can use not only to get traffic but will also build your inbound link count. That sounds good right? Traffic and some SEO?
Here we go…
The first site I ever marketed was a site that was offering a bunch of free stuff. Way back in 1996 they were really popular. Most are now owned by big corporate companies, but these free sites are what started affiliate marketing. We wont get into that though.
Here is the exact way I got over 1,000 visitors a day to my first “free stuff” site and how you can use this same tactic.
1. You must have a free offer. Something of value.
2. Make a “partners” page for your website.
3. Contact “free stuff” sites and tell them that you are offering (your free offer) and ask them to list it for you. In turn, let them know that you have already placed their link in your partners section of your site.
4.Keep track of who you have reciprocal links with, so you can make sure that you stay listed on their site.
5. Sit back and watch the visitors scurry to your site.
Some people say this tactic does not work. Well, they are WRONG!
Just because you are getting a freebie seeker to your site does not mean that they wont buy something from you. They key is to get their email address before giving them your free gift! There’s lots of ways to do that, but we’re not going to talk about that today.
There you have it. A free way to get traffic to your site. Only certain sites will be able to use this tactic, but with a little thinking and creativity, you can work this tactic into your traffic building methods.
